United Against Cancer

Once again SOLMED Alliance wants to express its solidarity with those who suffer or had suffered this illness and joins international organizations in order to work for promoting actions against Cancer.

OMS along with International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) consider the 4th of February as the World Cancer Day and SOLMED Alliance takes actively part, as in the rest of the year, to improve the situation of those who fight to overcome Cancer.

Experts affirm that prevention and early detection are essential to stop the alarming increase effect of this illness. More than 60% of cancer cases are located in Africa, Asia and South and Central America.

World Cancer Day offers an opportunity to think about everything that is in our hands in order to cooperate and fight against Cancer.

In such an impactful day SOLMED Alliance wants to introduce recommendations provided by the main international organizations against Cancer in order to prevent and detect this illness:

  • Do not smoke. Keep your home and job place free of tobacco smoke.
  • Control your weight.
  • Be physically active for at least 30 minutes every day, and sit less.
  • Avoid high-calorie foods and sugary drinks and limit consumption of foods high in fats and/or added sugars and/or low in fibre.
  • Be careful with the sun, especially towards children. Use sun protection and avoid using solar cabins.
  • Protect yourself against carcinogenic substances at work.
  • Control level of radon radiation at home.
  • For women: Breastfeeding reduces breast cancer risk. Hormone replacement therapy increases risks in some types of cancer.
  • Vaccinate your children against hepatitis B and Human Papillomavirus (for girls).
  • Get screened for Colon Cancer (men and women), Breast Cancer (women), and Cervical Cancer (women).

SOLMED Alliance is committed to prevention and strength of international union in order to reduce the number of cases in the world and, on this very significant day, wants to convey much encouragement to all families struggling against Cancer.
